November 2010 Ride Report This month’s breakfast was held at the D.Z. Akin’s restaurant near La Mesa. Of course it was an extremely cold morning but there was a fairly good turnout. Good food and a lot of laughs. As usual, anyone that missed it, missed out on yet another good time. The meeting began at the usual 9:00 AM at Motoworld. First topic of discussion was the upcoming Long Beach Bike Show being held on Saturday, December 18’th. This will be the chapter ride for the month of December although our President John Neidert will not be able to attend. Anyone interested in going with the group should be at the Denny's at the Ortega Hwy exit of I-5 at 8:00AM. It was also decided that rather than a “traditional” Christmas party this year, the chapter will have a short ride leaving Motoworld at the usual time on Sunday December 19’th. The destination will be Kaminski’s Bar BQ and Sorts Lounge in Poway. There will be no gift exchange this year and no “white elephant” gift. We’ll just keep it nice and simple this year with a short ride through part of the back country and up into Poway. Nominations for Chapter President and Vice President were officially closed. Since there were no nominations, John Neidert and Terry Snow will continue as our President, Vice President into 2011. Chapter officers will also remain the same during this time. Discussion of the chapter raffle was also held as to whether or not to continue with the tradition. The point was made that holding and maintaining a monthly raffle is quite tedious for the treasurer at best and that the yields may not be worth the effort. Discussion of ways to foster more member participation was also held with several ideas being tabled. There seems to have been a drastic decrease over the past year but it was suggested that this may be a symptom of the declining economy. Of course suggestions on how to turn this around are always welcome and in fact encouraged from the membership. This is your chapter! What takes place with the chapter and what the chapter does as a whole is every member’s responsibility as much as it is the chapter officers. Let’s hear from everyone. This month’s ride destination was the Golden Acorn Casino. The chapter departed the Motoworld parking lot at 10:00 AM heading east on Park Ave towards Ballantyne St. Turning right onto Ballantyne and continuing on down Avocado Blvd. to Highway 94. Making a left turn and following Highway 94 East all the way to Church Rd. Turning left onto Church Rd and following it to the Casino. It turned out to be a nice leisurely ride enjoyed by all. MEMBERS ARE REMINDED TO RENEW THEIR STAR MEMBERSHIPS BY THE DUE DATE NOTED ON YOUR CARDS.
