April 2011 Ride Report At long last! Chapter 224 was finally able to get a ride in again! After multiple ride cancelations due to weather conditions the weekend turned out to be perfect for riding! We also had a fairly good turnout as well with twelve members and two guests in attendance. The day was off to a great start with a breakfast at the Highway 67 Café. Over half of the members that came out for the ride also attended the breakfast meeting. After some great food we were off to Motoworld to meet up with the rest of the group for the official chapter meeting. The chapter welcomed guests Jarred Carpenter (member Jeff Carpenter’s son) and Andru Hughes, a previous founding member of the chapter. The 5’th Annual Chapter 224 Laughlin Lunch Run is scheduled to meet at the Arco station on the south side of Temecula (Highway 79 exit). Members wishing to make this 600 mile “bun-burner” day ride should be there prior to the 6:30 AM departure time. There is no breakfast meeting planned for the ride this year so you’re on your own for that. Temecula Motorsports is holding a Victory Demo-Day TODAY so any members interested in testing riding one of these bikes may want to ride on up there after the chapter ride today. The May chapter ride destination will be to Palm Springs to take the Tram-way up to the top of the mountain. More information with regard to the cost will be posted later. The ride route will also be announced in the coming weeks. We will also be looking at ways to liven up the chapter web site. Anyone wishing to post “news articles” of any kind, please contact me (Chapter Secretary / Web Master). We need to breathe some LIFE back into the site and I could use all the help I can get!! Get us some ride reports… news… anything that might be of interest to the rest of the chapter. This month’s chapter ride destination was to the Red Ocotillo restaurant in Borrego Springs. The ride route was out through Wildcat Canyon Road through Barona to the old Julian Highway, on up through Santa Isabel, stopping at Dudley’s Bakery for a water stop. Then to Highway S-2 by way of Highway 79, down Montezuma Road into the west side of Borrego Springs. Although the service was just a bit on the slow side, the food was excellent and well worth the wait. It looks like we have another good “filling station” for future rides. We’ll be looking forward to hearing how the Laughlin Lunch Run went… hopefully one of the attending members will provide us with a Ride Report from this event.
